The American Kung Fu System

American Kung-Fu is a system, based on combining east and west, the discipline of the east and the melting pot of the west. In American Kung Fu we utilize Northern and Southern Shaolin and Chinese Kenpo forms.

The root of the Shaolin forms is based on animal movements such as Tiger, Crane, Monkey and Dragon, teaching flow and energy. The Chinese Kenpo forms promote the basic structures and movements to the students, which provide the foundation for American Kung Fu, together they form a combination of grace and power and the beginning of each student’s path of self discovery in the Martial Arts.

With the practice of forms we develop a fluidity and efficiency of motion and power. Forms are what we call the book of the martial arts. They convey the concepts and ideas from which self defense techniques are developed.

Once basic skills in empty hand strikes, kicking, grappling, joint manipulation and take downs are learned, the practice of techniques shows what is possible. Weapons forms and/or techniques for sword, stick, dagger, staff, walking cane, spear and Kwondo are also taught. Martial Qigong forms and techniques round out our program.
