Techniques are the self-defense movements that are practiced alone, with a partner or various types of martial arts equipment, such as a heavy bag. The movements could be as simple as a block or a punch. Or it could involve a series of intricate movements meant to teach flow what is possible with the various empty hand and kicking techniques the student is taught. The student will learn basic movements that will get progressively more complex and these are put together in what is called self-defense techniques. The student is taught how to use the various empty hand and foot weapons. These include variations of defensive and offensive movements, punches, kicks, grabs, joint locking and throws. The student progresses from the basic movements like our general self-defense techniques, which are defenses against a variety of grabs and holds. In the more advanced techniques the student will learn to defend a variety of attacks. The attacks can be from a single opponent to multiple opponents. They can be empty hand such as a punch or grab to attacks with weapons or from multiple opponents. |
